Cephalanthera falcata in bloom on Mt. Asahi.

Cephalanthera falcata was in bloom on Mt. Asahi. This is a flower that blooms in East Asia, including Japan, Korea and China.
If you happen to come across this flower, you are really lucky.
It is such a rare flower.
People who see it in the woods dig it up, bring it home, and let it die. It is such a delicate plant.
Therefore, it is best to enjoy it in the woods.
Cephalanthera falcata was in full bloom last week, but today its flowers have already begun to wither. The flowering period is also short.
Many people visit Mt. Asahi, but most of them take the “stone stair route. However, the route is too well maintained and it is difficult to see these flowers.
I took the “east route” and enjoyed nature without meeting anyone.

朝日山のキンラン（Cephalanthera falcata）
朝日山にキンランが咲いていた。これは日本、韓国や中国な東アジアに咲く花だ。
この花に出会えたならそれは本当にラッキーなことだ。
それくらい稀な花とも言える。
林の中でこれを見た人は掘って持ち帰って枯らしてしまう。それくらいデリケートな植物なのだ。
だから、林の中でそれを楽しむのが一番いいのだ。
キンランは先週満開だったが、今日はもう花が枯れはじめていた。花期も短い。
朝日山を訪れる人は多いが、大半は「石段ルート」を使う。しかし、そのルートは整備されすぎていてこうした花になかなか出会えない。
「東側ルート」を利用する私は今日も誰と会うこともなく自然を満喫した。

Chionographis japonica

Chionographis japonica is a pretty flower that blooms in the Mt.Asahi and Mt.Shinyama during this season.
White flowers bloom in the woods.
It is my pleasure to see these flowers on my hikes.

この季節の朝日山や真山に咲く可憐な花がシライトソウだ。
林の中で白い花を咲かせている。
ハイキングの途中でこういう花を眺めるのが私の楽しみだ。

Mt.Asahi Hiking Route

There is an old temple at the top of Mt.Asahi.
The route from the south has a parking lot at an elevation of about 170 m. From the parking lot, we can reach the temple by hiking up a gentle path with an elevation gain of about 150 m. However, the road around the parking lot is very narrow, so I have recently stopped using that route.

I use the trail drawn with a white line on the map.
There are two main routes up from the parking lot near the Koura Beach in the north of Mt.Asahi, with an elevation gain of about 320 meters. One is the “east route,” which is a normal mountain trail, and the other is the “stone stair route,” which has stone steps leading up to the halfway point.
The majority of visitors take the stone stair route.
Cherry trees and maple trees are planted around the stone stairway route, and visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall.
On the other hand, I mainly use the eastern route.
The eastern route is a normal narrow path with no stairs. However, I choose this route because of the abundance of seasonal plants and flowers in the surrounding area.
Asahi Temple is located near the summit of Mt.Asahi. The temple garden is a beautiful green place with moss growing in the garden.

朝日山のハイキングルート
朝日山の山頂には古いお寺があり、昔から多くの人が訪れた所です。
南側からのルートは標高170m位の所に駐車場があり、その駐車場から標高差で150m程度緩い道を登ればお寺に着きます。しかし、その駐車場の周囲の車道はとても細い道なので私は最近そのルートは利用しなくなりました。
私が利用するのは地図に白線で描いた登山道です。
朝日山の北の古浦海岸近くの駐車場から標高差約320mを登りますが、主なルートは２つあります。ひとつは普通の山道の「東側ルート」、もうひとつは途中まで石段が整備されている「石段ルート」です。
ここを訪れる人の大半はこの石段ルートを利用しています。
石段ルートの周辺にはサクラの樹や楓の樹が植えられており、春にはサクラを、秋には紅葉を楽しむことができます。
一方私は、東側ルートを主に利用します。
東側ルートは普通の細い道で、階段などありません。ただ、周辺は季節毎の植物、花々が豊かなので私はこちらを選んでいます。
朝日山の山頂付近には朝日寺があります。お寺の庭にはコケが生えて、緑の美しいところです。

Because it had rained in the morning, the view that the rain had cleaned up was clear for a long distance.

しかし実際には雨は降ってはいなかった。
朝は雨だったため、雨がクリーンにしてくれた景色は遠くまでよく見えた。

Fresh green of Mt. Shinyama

The fresh greenery of this season is truly lush and beautiful.
After a few more weeks, they will turn into a deep green color in the early summer sunlight.

これがもう数週間経過すると、初夏の日差しで色濃い緑になっていくのだ。

The rain hazed Matsue City can be seen beyond the fresh greenery.
Mt. Asahi can also be seen rising in the western sky.
Photos taken in light rain are softer than those taken on a clear day.

Nanakamado (Sorbus commixta) blossoms

Nanakamado is known for its beautiful bright red berries in autumn. However, its flowers are also bright with clusters of small blossoms, which is appropriate for this season.

Color of Japanese azalea (Rhododendron dilatatum)

It is in bloom in April at Mt. Shinyama (Mt. Shinyama) in Matsue City. The beautiful flowers are blooming in the bright area of the mountain where fresh green has begun.
They bloom earlier than other azaleas.
